What I have learnt about representation and how the media may use this to potray others.
In this assignment I have learnt about how the general public and how others may see me because of the clothes I wear or what music I listen to. I found this interesting as it shows how you can be judged before someone has even met you which angers me as someone may seem bad because of the music they listen to but deep down they are genuinely nice. The media may use specific images to get story's across to the public and potentially win the public over with their story so that they then change their views on that subject or piece of news. I feel as if this is bad as the media are controlling what people are thinking and what their personal opinions are which can lead to serious scenarios such as racism and discrimination.

Uk Tribes
There are several groups that I think would belong to and these include the "Styler", "Sport junkies"and " Urban artists.
Sports Junkies used to mean being motivated, dedicated and all about the win – but today, the majority are much more high street than high level performance. They are simply young people for whom playing team sports is a key passion point in their life, and build their identity and community around playing sports.
The reason I think I am part of this group is because I spend the majority of my free time participating in sport and I hate losing no matter who is player and how friendly it is such as playing with mates.
Stylers hold strong on the UK Tribes map – innately cool and stylish, the rising influence of Urban fashion and music have made them a hugely aspirational Tribe for youth today. As luxe sportswear and Urban high fashion has hit the Aspirants (check out the Hypebeasts), more young people than ever before are looking like a Styler and aspiring to their luxury lifestyle.
I have a very large interest in urban clothing as I like finding new brands that are individual and urban. I like wearing sports clothing such as Nike and Adidas. I like wearing a variety of clothes and I like trying a variety of styles.
Urban arts (think genres like rap, beatboxing, spoken word, graffiti) and Urban music and fashion influences (think Trax, Chicago Footwork, UK Grime) are so pervasive and influential across UK youth culture today – the Urban Artists are part of the Leading Edge segment but 100% Urban.
I love grime and rap music and love listening to artists such as Sormzy, JME, Skepta and Run the jewels. I like being part of a youth culture and enjoy seeing things like street art and graffiti.
I like Jack Whitehall as he has a good fashion sense as he wears lots of Fred Perry items and so do I so I would consider this a similarity as I see him as smart. I see lots of footballers as people I may dress like as they wear particular sports wear that appeals to me so I will buy clothes similar to this as I feel as if I am part of this trend in fashion. I try to style my self to individual clothing brands as I like urban clothing that is not popular and this plays a key role in what clothes I buy and how I dress myself.
Sports Junkies
Sports Junkies are one of the most aspirational of Mainstream Tribes, but also one of the l;east influential. They’re dedicated to sporting achievement and prepared to cut out friends and habits that stand in the way.Sports Junkies used to mean being motivated, dedicated and all about the win – but today, the majority are much more high street than high level performance. Stylers
Still representing status and style, it’s about partying, looking good and staying ahead of cool.Stylers hold strong on the UK Tribes map – innately cool and stylish, the rising influence of Urban fashion and music have made them a hugely aspirational Tribe for youth today. Uban Artists
Urban artists are a new category to fit a myriad of smaller Urban scene Tribes that are growing across the UK.Urban arts (think genres like rap, beatboxing, spoken word, graffiti) and Urban music and fashion influences (think Trax, Chicago Footwork, UK Grime) are so pervasive and influential across UK youth culture today – the Urban Artists are part of the Leading Edge segment but 100% Urban.

Representation and textual analysis
Representation
and textual analysis
Representation
The description or portrayal of someone or something in a
particular way, for example the representation of women in newspapers.
Representation of the man-
The man in this photo I personally think looks like a clothes designer as his clothes look scruffy but they look as if they have been made that way which means he could be a clothes designer. I also think that maybe he if he is a clothes designer he is trying to make scruffy clothes popular so he can support the homeless which means he could be interested in charity. For this reason I think his past story could be that he was homeless but got a grip of things and has become very wealthy and wants to help people who were like him.

Representation of the lady -
The lady looks like a normal elderly lady but looks like she is very fashionable as her glasses look rather posh and modern. Due to this I think she could be potentially wealthy. For this reason I think she could be fashion designer or a artist as her glasses and hair look creative. Her outfit looks like she might want to dress like a normal lady but still want to retain some expensive accessories such as her glasses within her outfit.

Occupation- Actress

Representation of the second man-
This man looks as if he is really wealthy and intelligent. the reason why I think this is because he has a well co ordinated outfit as his hat matches his scarf and his coat matches his trousers which shows he has put a lot of thought into this outfit. Due to this I think he has something to do with fashion or maybe art another thought I had was that maybe he was an author or a film director as he is dressed very smart and looks as if he is at an event due to the background. He looks as if he owns a very large and successful company and looks like he could be generous with money and maybe give to charities.

Key roles within a film production
Writer- The writer has a key job of creating a script for the
cast. Their job is fairly short as once they have finished writing and handed
the script in that is the end of their role within the film production. The
writer is never usually out of the film as sometimes they get asked to re write
sections as the actors may not feel as if it working.
Producer- The producer has the main role within the film and
organizes all off the roles within the film such as the director and the

films or selective films which is a good thing in the film industry as it
raises awareness of low budget films and also improves access to the films.
Film production
Film production is the process of making a film.
For the exam you'll need to understand all the stages of film production, these are:
Development - This is simply the process of 'finding' a story. Ideas for films come from a variety of sources, they can range from novels, real life events to computer game adaptations. Once you've got an idea you'll need someone to write a pitch for you which you take to a film producer in an attempt to get some funding to make your film. Even at this very early stage you need a very clear idea of who you're aiming you film at so you can include elements that will appeal to them.
Pre-production - Once you've got funding you establish your budget and can begin to get a film crew together, you can storyboard the script. You also need break the script down into individual scenes and identify all the locations, props, cast members, costumes, special effects and visual effects needed.
Production - This is simply the process of 'making' the film. Provided you've done your job properly in the pre-production stage making the film should be straight forward. 'Film' is very expensive and difficult to store so an increasing number of film makers are using digital cameras to save money.
Post-production - During this stage you take all the 'film' you've shot and give it to a film editor. They will then begin putting it together. Special effects will be added, a soundtrack will be added, any missing dialogue will be re-recorded and added resulting in a 'rough cut'. This will be shown to the director and a test audience who will offer feedback. Often this causes scenes to be filmed and added or removed.

Representation in TV drama
Task 1
Choose a character and think about how they are
‘represented’ in the show in which they appear.
- TV drama name - The Walking Dead
- Genre of TV drama – American horror / drama
- Actor/Actress name – Andrew Lincoln
- Character name – Rick Grimes
- Age of actor – 41 Age of character – 41
- Ethnicity –
- Regional identity – A sheriff’s deputy in Georgia , America
- Costume – A American police uniform with a cowboy hat.
- Lifestyle in 5 words – caring, violent , leader , intelligent , quick-thinker
- Interests- Cares a lot about his friends and family and is interested in keeping others well.
- Motivation in most situations- He gets motivated by ensuring he stays alive and making sure others stay alive
- Love life – He had a wife that cheated on him with his best friend as they both thought Rick was dead only for him to find the group they was in later on in the series she dies.
- Problems in life – He gets shot on a police call which leaves him in a coma he then wakes up in a world infested by zombies and has to adapt to survive with very little resources.
- Key moment in Drama series – a key moment could be when he recovers from his coma and finds his family and their group which some of the members of that group are still part of the group now.
- Prediction for future narratives – The place that they are staying could get overrun by zombies or other groups and I think a lot of the group members may die leaving the remaining group to relocate.
- How are the audience meant to react to them? – The audience should be drawn in and should want to watch it and the audience should be made to think about what’s going to happen next.
- Friends include-
